Direct sales & freelancers

Ali Hussein founded a direct-sales company and worked closely with external providers for many years, facing the same tension between scope, hours, and invoices that agency teams see every day.

End of the month

Invoices arrived. Roles, work, line items: all vaguely plausible. Often a quick look and a nod through, quietly hoping it was fine.

The turning point

At some point it was clear: it isn’t always right. The frustration led to a decision to tie review and operational truth together permanently — not in spreadsheets, but in real software.

These situations are not edge cases. Everyone who runs projects with external workers eventually faces the same PDFs, the same follow-up questions, and the same time pressure before the wire transfer.

Billyr was born from this pain — not as a theoretical product, but as an answer to a problem many know and rarely name out loud: replacing trust with proof, chaos with a clear chain of order, work, and invoice.

We measure our progress by how much wasted time, overpayment risk, and end-of-month stress we remove from finance ops. That's what this is about.

Ali Hussein founded Billyr to solve a real problem. As owner of a direct-sales company, he saw the monthly mess of wrong freelancer invoices every month — and decided to fix it for good.

He is also the founder of Boring Software, a Frankfurt studio that builds simple tools for real problems.
